FLOEX - Pocustone

Here's something you don't usually see on these pages. Tomáš Dvořák aka Floex - clarinetist, composer, producer and multimedia artist from Prague (Czech Republic) - specializes in jazz tinged electronic music. On this album (originally released in 2001), he mixes intricate songs with a set of short, experimental soundscapes. It's miles away from the hullaballoo of bass music we usually feature in these pages. But - and I can't stress this enough - this album is something you should really take some time to listen to and let it all sink in. The melodies are gorgeous, equal parts Cinematic Orchestra and Bonobo but done in a style uniquely his own. Listen to the samples below, and get buying.

Compa - Kalindi / Antact [KOKESHI008]

Forthcoming on Kokeshi is this absolute stunner courtesy of Compa. Lead track Kalindi is a future classic, an ambient stunner that drifts through from start to finish, transporting you on a blissful journey into deep space. The flipside Antact is just as good, a blinder with its heavy kicks and twisted melodies. Out on vinyl on April 15, this is - we assure you - is not one you should miss.

Queensway - Run / Healing (Out now on Blu Mar Ten Music)

Its time for a new release on the ever impressive Blu Mar Ten Music label, this time brought to you by Ukrainian newcomer Queensway. He's pulled off a great release, conjuring two slices of aural bliss that the label has described as "deeply romantic".

But that's no record company hyperbole. This single sees hints of deep house, low strung guitars and ambient weaved into Queensway's patch work of 170BPM melodies, resulting in truly epic sounds. Run starts off with a blissful collage of bleeps and arch synths while gentle bell motifs reveal a darkly sexy groove. The flip track Healing is a more downtempo affair, dissecting elements of house, while the bubbling percussion and sliding bass line all results in a truly layered and complex outing.

From the IM:LTD comes this 10 track compilation filled with chilled out vibes, searing synths, double time click beats and all out dance floor ranging drum & bass. Bungle - Astral Travel / Aura [SOUL: R SOULR60]

Word is that Soul:R boss Marcus Intalex asked Brazilian producer Bungle to make a tune for Soul:R. No pressure and no limitation, the former said.
But the results is nothing short of sublime. Intalex has gone on record to say Bungle's contribution "is the best Soul:R 12" there has been for a long time".

And we couldn't agree more. For months now Astral Travel and Aura have been turning heads in Intalex's DJ sets all over the world as soon as they are played, with people rushing to find out what these tunes are.

No wonder. From what we've heard, this first single from Soul:R for 2013 sets the bar high with its melancholic yet optimistic vibes. Unfortunately it all finishes all too soon, leaving you wanting more.

Emerging from a background as a punk drummer, eleven8's sound has become famous for it's distinctive percussion and acoustic samples. The tunes here are grandly layered and simply majestic.
