ASC fans, here's something to look forward to. The Auxiliary boss fires his second offering on Pushing Red and it's one of his best releases yet.
A fantastic follow up to his debut on the label, this one shows off his versatility and brilliance at crafting techno themed soundscapes. Proton starts off with chest thumping kicks and a clever undulating bassline as in true ASC fashion. Blips & bleeps weave in and out of the background before the snare drops in to take the track onwards. On the flipside, Electron is another deep techno piece - a solid 4/4 keeps the momentum strong with pulsating bass and smooth melodies.
Full of radical dynamics and drama - this is one slab of plastic that leaves you giddy and wanting more. Out on Jan 28 2013 at all good outlets - go seek.
Recorded on the anniversary of JFK's assassination and 21 years after their historic '92 New Year mix on Kiss 100 FM, Coldcut meets The Orb inna Uptown Youth House for the Return Trip. Matt Black and Jonathan More alongside studio accomplice Dor Wand got suitably enhanced with Dr LX Paterson and Youth for a multi-player late night jam session lasting over three hours. They then entrusted the multitracks of the set to DJ Food who heroically edited, condensed and massaged the sprawling swamp of sound into a tight - but also loose - Solid Steel session.
Swimming through the mix are Lee Perry, Actress, Prince Jammy, Iggy Pop, Monty Python, Hank Williams and Hal 9000. Alongside unreleased dubs from the players themselves, remixes and versions of tunes old and new, the complete track listing for this marathon set may never be fullly disclosed. Its full of sonic secrets to melt your mind, probably best listened to in headphones late at night with all suitable facilities for the full effect. Enjoy this trip.

Word is that Soul:R boss Marcus Intalex asked Brazilian producer Bungle to make a tune for Soul:R. No pressure and no limitation, the former said.
But the results is nothing short of sublime. Intalex has gone on record to say Bungle's contribution "is the best Soul:R 12" there has been for a long time".
And we couldn't agree more. For months now Astral Travel and Aura have been turning heads in Intalex's DJ sets all over the world as soon as they are played, with people rushing to find out what these tunes are.
No wonder. From what we've heard, this first single from Soul:R for 2013 sets the bar high with its melancholic yet optimistic vibes. Unfortunately it all finishes all too soon, leaving you wanting more.
Happy New Year! After near two months away we are back with Episode 53, featuring 23 songs mixed in the key of E Minor. Two download options for you: Download the MP3 version via Mediafire HERE or subscribe via iTunes HERE. Enjoy!

Beginning in the Summer of 2012 with his Low End Theory guest spots, DJ Shadow's "All Basses Covered" set has morphed and evolved to incorporate as many different contemporary genres of urban and electronic music as possible. From hardcore rap to footwork and juke and beyond, Shadow has combed the web to curate seamless and dexterous blends of the most progressive sounds bubbling up from the underground. 'Too hard?' 'Too future?' Or just too raw? As always, DJ Shadow has provoked crucial flashpoints of discussion about the discipline of DJ'ing that have defined our turbulent times. -DJShadow.com Team
Zul (Subvert HQ, Singapore) has been DJing and promoting parties in the Lion City since the 1990s, performing along side the likes of dBridge, DJ Friction, Joe Syntax, Stamina MC, John B, A-Sides, Pendulum, Cyantific, Sonic, London Elektricity as well as Logistics and Hospital Records' Chris Goss. Gigs-wise, its gone from Hong Kong (he spent time with the White Label crew in 2001), Jakarta to London (playing at the legendary Hospitality parties in Shoreditch, UK) with bits of radio (MediaCorp Radio's Lush 99.5FM Clubscape sessions, to be exact) and a release on Take Off Records squeezed in between.
When not busy with his day job as a journalist in Singapore, Zul also keeps it cutting edge away from the dance floor with the Subvert Sessions Podcast (download via subverthq.blogspot.sg), blending together leftfield and idiosyncratic beats of the 170bpm variety.
