Anodyne Industries - Nightfall EP

The latest release from EDJ's Manifesto Music is out today....

Having built up a solid reputation for hard hitting, industrial tinged beats with his previous work, Anodyne Industries takes things down a notch for the eigth Manifesto Music release, exploring the deeper end of Drum & Bass in his own inimitable style.

The EP opens with the minimalistic, eastern sounds of ‘Amenomibashira’. Delicate strings and expansive pads drop into a deep sub bass line, subtle kick drum and distorted synths. A refined, understated track, the plethora of minute details in the soundscape not instantly recognisable at first make it a rewarding listening experience and a fitting way in which to open the release. ‘Shadows On The Moon’ takes the energy levels up a notch as processed snares anchor the growling bassline and raw synth work. Watch out for the second drop...

From dark to light we progress with ‘Critical Space’, the most stripped piece on the EP. Pulsating bass and skittering hats are the all the elements this track needs to suck you into its hypnotic atmosphere. Again, there is a ying to a yang and the EP is rounded off with the weighty ‘Reconstruction’. Sinister vocals, twisted guitars and masterful drum edits hint at the harder sounds Anodyne Industries is known for. Screw faces at the ready...

Diamond EyE // Mind Film EP

Manifesto Music returns with its 5th release from EDJ favourite DiamonD EyE...

DiamonD EyE - Mind Film EP

1. Tranquil
2. Random
3. Location
4. Mind Film

In a genre currently awash with dull, generic and unimagainative ‘rollers’, DiamonD EyE is bucking the trend. Heavy on the breakbeats and heavy on the vibes, he provides a welcome counterpoint to the stagnation that seems to have returned to certain sections of D&B almost as instantaneously as it was supposed to have vanished in the wake of the Autonomic movement and it’s associated sounds.

If you like what you hear on this EP then be sure to check his debut album ‘Moments In Life’, released June 2011 on Modern Urban Jazz.

Diamonds are forever.....

THE MODERN SOUND OF URBAN JAZZ LP

"Manifesto Music presents: The Modern Sound Of Urban Jazz LP

For Manifesto Music’s third release, we are proud to present ‘The Modern Sound Of Urban Jazz’, our debut LP project featuring a selection of tracks from artists on the legendary Modern Urban Jazz label. This imprint’s contribution to drum & bass history cannot be ignored – set up in 1995 by Justice it has released tracks such as the seminal ‘Aquisse’ from Justice himself as well as a variety of music from respected artists such as Chris Inperspective, long time cohorts Metro & Invincible and more recently Muted, Sinistarr & Felix K over the course of its 16 year history. Left-field, experimental and never conformist, Manifesto Music is honoured to present this release to you.

Kicking things off are the eerie drones of ‘&Found’. Acting much like a sorbet, it clears the palette of the mind in preparation for the mind boggling array of musical flavours that await the listener over the course of the LP. Metro delivers some abstract minimalist styles with ‘Helium’ and this theme is continued with the scientific precision of ‘Reader 38’, a 3 way collaboration from Justice, Metro and Iceland’s Muted.

This track acts as the half-way point in the LP, with the sounds getting more breaksy and rolling for the latter half of the album. The bright and airy ‘Forever’ from Justice & Invincible with its funky bassline and choice female vocals make way for a more all-out dance floor number with breakbeat technician DiamonD EyE’s reinterpretation of Justice’s ‘Bassoon Tune’. The LP is rounded off in fine style with another Justice & Invincible collaboration ‘Hindsight Correction’ with its old school drum edits adding a modern twist to styles of yore.

With so many d&b long players merely being a random selection of assorted singles, this is an LP, albeit a short one, in the true sense of the word. From the first second to the last it takes you on a journey through the many different aspects of drum & bass and it is certain to be a release you will return to time and again. Enjoy."

Muted - Izanami EP [FREE DOWNLOAD]

Muted – Izanami EP

Space
Robin
The Well
Izanami

Muted is one of the new wave of producers currently making inroads into electronic music with his take on the more stripped back, minimal sound within the 174bpm framework. Hailing from Iceland, the cold, eerie feel of his geographical location is ever present in his music and no more so than in this, the ‘Izanami EP’, for Manifesto Music.

This collection of music is something of a paradox – cold, yet full of emotive warmth, minimal in its construction yet packed full of subtle nuances. From the ethereal opening track ‘Space’ through to sublime title track ‘Izanami’ it is a release that provides a deep, richly rewarding listening experience and Manifesto Music is proud to put this out as its debut release.
