It’s no secret that in the last twelve months, instrumental grime has been in ruder health than it has been for a while. Few of these artists are as constantly rewarding as Royal-T, however. His FACT mix is packed with unreleased material, including more collaborations between himself, P Money and Blacks, remixes of Wiley and Katy B, and dubs from D.O.K, DQ Q and more.

via Mark System: I really enjoyed writing El Sunrise. It's directly inspired by an experience I had in Ibiza - Watching the sunrise from a balcony at Pacha's El Hotel. Later that morning I heard Sade's "Like A Tattoo" playing in the lobby, which is a beautiful song. I wrote El Sunrise the following day while my memory was fresh. Complications over a sample I used prevented dBridge and Exit Records from releasing the track commercially. I've had countless people ask me for a copy since I wrote it. I promised them all that I would be giving it away completely free at some point. I really hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed the writing process.
The Renegade Hardware podcast series reaches No. 4 and with it a special milestone in the labels evolution. The first artist led album - Ink: Last Scroll is set to be released on 4th July.
Here, the man himself takes charge and showcases the music on the album while giving some insights into the background of how the tracks came to be.
It's been almost two full years since the release of his debut Clear Your Mind and Russia's Bop still amazes. His latest album, the quirkily titled The Amazing Adventures Of One Curious Pixel might just be the best drum & bass themed album this year - he expertly weaves iconic 8-bit chiptune sounds and deep, pumping house beats with raw, undulating basslines and slo-mo funk / jazz inspired 170bpm grooves to create his very own blend of unique electronic music.
The good people at Dogs On Acid recently caught up with the banana-eating fruitarian with a 6 year old dog named Booyaka for an interview (which you can read HERE) and a top flight, minimal themed mix which, quite frankly is not to be missed.

Nuage & THRN - Don't Exist Nuage - Feel Me Nuage - Hold Me Back Nuage - Volume Cat
Russia's Nuage is fast becoming one of my favourite new producers at the moment. Minimal drum & bass fans will probably already know what to expect here: Deeply experimental vibes and great melodies in one neat package. But for the uninitiated, we are glad to report his first solo outing (barring the collaboration with countryman THRN) on Washington DC label Translation is anything but lightweight. The debate over the minimal end of drum & bass may rage on but Nuage is showing himself to be quite the real deal. He doesn't just peddle cliches taken from the dBridge and Instra:mental's Autonomic play book. Instead, this four-track EP - which will be out in good digital outlets on June 7 - features songs like Don't Exist and Feel Me exude a breathless charm that is - frankly - hypnotic indeed. At once gritty yet melodic, Dream Box EP maybe hang on to the minimal drum & bass template but thankfully it is also laced with the right amount of spice to keep things interesting. In other words, this batch of saccharine harmonies is a right treat to the old ear drums. Seek it out.

Zul (Subvert HQ, Singapore) has been DJing and promoting parties in the Lion City since the 1990s, performing along side the likes of dBridge, DJ Friction, Joe Syntax, Stamina MC, John B, A-Sides, Pendulum, Cyantific, Sonic, London Elektricity as well as Logistics and Hospital Records' Chris Goss. Gigs-wise, its gone from Hong Kong (he spent time with the White Label crew in 2001), Jakarta to London (playing at the legendary Hospitality parties in Shoreditch, UK) with bits of radio (MediaCorp Radio's Lush 99.5FM Clubscape sessions, to be exact) and a release on Take Off Records squeezed in between.
When not busy with his day job as a journalist in Singapore, Zul also keeps it cutting edge away from the dance floor with the Subvert Sessions Podcast (download via subverthq.blogspot.sg), blending together leftfield and idiosyncratic beats of the 170bpm variety.
