We were going to say mixes were like buses with two coming along at once this afternoon but then we realised that that particularly laboured analogy just wasn’t going to cut it in this instance. We mean, it was that long ago since we dropped our last exclusive mix on you lucky lot with this week seeing our hallowed pages already harbour the talents of The Drifter, Matt Fear & Kreature and Glaswegian techno aficionado Harvey McKay.

Now we’ve got all that bragging out of the way let us accompany our unveiling of an extra special mix from DT favourite Matthew Dear (courtesy of our friends over at RBMA) with our second exclusive mix of the day as Uncle Dugs provides you with another fresh selection of cuts for you to wrap your ears around ahead of his performance this weekend for Back To 95 at London’s Great Suffolk Street Warehouse. Data Transmission Exclusive Mix: Ena

One of the most exciting new additions to the prestigious Samurai Music roster, Tokyo's Ena has crafted a sound entirely his own, opening doors into dark, experimental planes of music. A major player on the Japanese underground scene for over a decade, his forward-thinking productions, for the likes of 7even Recordings, Samurai Horo and CX:Digital, permeate the edges of drum & bass, becoming something more, something raw.

His debut album, Binaural, is due out through Samurai's Horo imprint - a breeding ground of innovative producers such as ASC, FIS and Sam KDC - on October 27th. Promising to move further into "uncharted sonic and rhythmic territory," the album offers harsh textures and grim, organic beats, often put together with found sounds. In a interesting and unique move, the tracklist for the vinyl 2x12" LP is totally different from its CD and digital counterparts, with 12 totally separate and exclusive tracks. The CD tracklist has already been revealed, however we've secured a first look at the LP release.

This mix is full to the brim with dusty, extraterrestrial atmospheres and obscure percussion, let Ena induct you into the way of the Samurai!

In the world of electronic music sometimes things can all get a bit serious. Anoraks bang on about the catalogue numbers of the 5 releases on minuscule techno labels long since lost as people over analyze the exact meaning of the smallest of details and the inspirations behind it. It is into this atmosphere that we turn to the lighter side of the scene to break up this seriousness and this weeks exclusive podcast comes from a man of whom his biography lists his achievements as being one of the greatest human beings to have walked the earth, being a member of the inter-galactic council of 9 for a number of years and being recently awarded the prestigious role of Minute taker for Brent council narcoleptic society. We’re of course talking about the electronic production and DJing maverick that is Klute.
Head of his own esteemed label Commercial Suicide Klute has also released on many of the most prestigious labels in the world, such as Metalheadz, R:Soul, Hospital, 31 Records, Shogun Audio and Certificate 18 amongst others whilst collaborating with many studio greats too, such luminaries as Lamb, Mogwai, Bis, Natasha Atlas, Harold Budd, Concord Dawn and John Tejada to name but a few.

So with a performance at Basslaced presents A Bunch Of Cuts alongside Calibre, Dbridge and Doc Scott at London’s Fire scheduled in for the 8th of November we thought it was about time we brought the respected techno and drum and bass producer to the DT podcast for his unique take on all things electronic.
