Smoke Machine Podcast 041 Petstov

Petstov is a designer, writer, and a former stockbroker born in Valdivia, Chile, where in early 90's he started taking music beyond normal knowledge, but was not until 2001 that he start to take it seriously. He had already done some cdr a couple of years ago with tracks containing electronica and ambient, and was quite unsatisfied with the results. he switched from trackers to sequencers.
In early 2003 he started doing demo tracks under the Petstov name. the tracks started sounding better to him. he smiled. it was a start. in december 2003 he had compiled a demo array of tracks ranging from 3/3 techno to electronica to ambient, and received good response from the listeners, which inspired him to concentrate on music even more.
404 is the last and present project of Petstov, a mixture of Ambient & dub-techno build under 120bpm.

The tenth Cut EP is brought to you by label curator DFRNT, and provides a showcase for some of the minimal drum & bass styling he has been working on over the past year.

Clean-cut and minimal intricacies, infinite synth stabs and mellow vocal work with a suitable helping of bass when required. This EP showcases a slightly alternative side to DFRNT's work, and is bound to please fans of the recent output of Autonomic affiliates such as Synkro, Indigo, ASC or similar.

The second EP to surface in 2012, the tenth release from Cut is as much a curve-ball for the label sound as one might expect. Despite the clear shift in tempo, we reckon the emotion, melodies and musical sensibility within these 3 originals and 2 remixes is more than enough to tie it to the Cut family.

Over the course of the past 15 years John B has become one of the most eclectic, unique and respected artists in electronic music. His ability to stretch the elastic of drum 'n' bass over the past decade has brought him together with an array of figureheads from all corners of the scene from Metalheadz boss Goldie, to legendary global DJ Paul Oakenfold. Defying categorisation, John’s catalogue straddles electro, punk rock, trance, latin and drum 'n' bass. Now as we enter 2012 he’s ready to drop his brand new album Light Speed, a full-force electro/trance d 'n' b hybrid of truly epic proportions. Featuring collaborations with an array of superb vocalists ‘Light Speed’ is a prime example of an artist not afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve and follow his musical ideals, and with one of the busiest DJ schedules in the business it seems the rest of the world would agree.

Light Speed is out on John B's Beta Records February 20 2012.

Blocks and Escher present Narratives Music Podcast #001 and with it the inimitable selection of the artist, Loxy.

An artist that has been at the forefront of Drum and Bass since its emergence in the 90’s, Loxy’s list of residencies and music credits is difficult to fathom. With a musical CV listing achievements which individually would crown the pinnacle of many artist’s careers, his tells a multifaceted story of DnB at its very best throughout the last 20 years. From his involvement in the early Metalheadz days to championing Renegade Hardware all over the world and collaborations with what can only be described as a who’s who of DnB including Bad Company, Resound, Usual Suspects, and Ink; Loxy’s influence within the scene’s history and his relevance now more than ever is testament to his ethos of never compromising the music.

As Narratives Music embarks on its musical journey with the first release “Sagan / Broken” and now our first podcast, we take great pride in Loxy presenting a glimpse of our shared musical passion and identity.
