Om Unit b2b Doc Scott Live at RBMA x Boiler Room London

LISTEN HERE

Though he got his start as a hip hop production wunderkind and scratch DJ known as 2tall, Jim Coles has since moved on to greener pastures with his particular brand of electronic bass music under the alias Om Unit. It’s paid off: after dropping releases on respected underground labels such as Civil Music and Dublin’s All City, Coles has taken the Om Unit sound around the globe to critical acclaim. For this special Boiler Room London set, he teams up with the original “King of the Rollers”, Scott McIlroy aka Doc Scott. A true‘n’bass legend with musical roots steeped in electro, hip hop, techno and house, it was the early 90s rave scene that led to Scott’s initial headlining DJ sets. In 1991 he released his first studio production, the N.H.S. EP, containing the monster Surgery track, and soon after was signed by the Reinforced crew who, under the Nasty Habits guise, put out Scott’s As Nasty As I Wanna Be EP, with the era-defining Here Comes The Drumz track. Alongside Goldie, Scott played a key role in the early Metalheadz years, releasing tracks on the label and becoming resident DJ at the legendary Sunday night Blue Note sessions.

Narratives Music - Podcast 004 - DOC SCOTT (Blue Note / History Session)

Via Narratives Music:

To coincide with our latest single we are very proud to present Podcast #04 by the true legend and pioneer that is Doc Scott. Through seminal releases on Absolute 2, Reinforced Records, Metalheadz and of course his own 31 imprint, Doc Scott has helped forge British dance music and shape the scene we love, live and breathe today. No introduction truly does Scotty justice so we shall let the music do the talking.

Doc Scott presents a special mix that harks back to the much revered Metalheadz Blue Note sessions and a period of time musically that continues to prove hugely influential on Narratives founders Blocks and Escher. Timeless Drum and Bass endures.
